The New Normal

In this series, "The New Normal," I delve into our masked realities during the COVID-19 pandemic. Fascinated by how masks alter communication, I explore the subtle gestures and facial expressions magnified when mouths and noses are hidden. This shift from a verbal to a predominantly non-verbal world has been striking, forcing us to find new ways to connect and understand each other.

This has led me to question how anonymity and individuality are affected when part of our faces are concealed. Do masks strip away some of our uniqueness or just change how we express it? My work reflects these nuances, a visual conversation about what we've lost to masks, what we've found within them, and how we adapt and continue to seek connection in a world where our smiles are hidden.
